Valorant Points vs Riot Points — What's the Difference?
Valorant Points and Riot Points sound similar but work differently. This guide explains what each currency is, what you can buy, and whether you can convert between them.
Valorant Points vs Riot Points — What's the Difference?
Both Valorant Points (VP) and Riot Points (RP) are Riot Games currencies, but they serve different purposes and can't be transferred between them. Here's everything you need to know.
What Are Valorant Points (VP)?
Valorant Points are the premium currency used exclusively in Valorant. They are used to buy:
- Agent unlocks (1,000 VP)
- Weapon skins (from 875 VP for select, up to 2,175+ VP for premium)
- Skin bundles (typically 6,000–10,000 VP)
- Battle Pass (1,000 VP per act)
- Accessories (gun buddies, cards, sprays)
- Kingdom Credits conversion (at a ratio)
VP is tied to your Riot account but used only in Valorant.
What Are Riot Points (RP)?
Riot Points are used exclusively in League of Legends (and historically TFT). They buy:
- Champion unlocks (585–975 RP depending on age)
- Skins (520–3,250 RP)
- Skin chromas (290 RP)
- Summoner icons and emotes
- TFT Little Legends and Arena skins
Can You Transfer VP to RP or Vice Versa?
No. Despite both being Riot Games currencies, VP and RP are completely separate and cannot be transferred, converted, or shared between games.
When you buy Riot currency, you must choose:
1. Valorant Points — for use in Valorant only
2. Riot Points — for use in League of Legends/TFT only
Are They Priced the Same?
Approximately yes. Both currencies follow a similar pricing structure at official rates:
- 1,000 VP/RP ≈ $10 USD
- 2,800 VP/RP ≈ $20 USD
- 5,000 VP/RP ≈ $35 USD
- 11,000 VP/RP ≈ $60 USD
At SwiftBux, both cost approximately $1 per 1,000 — either VP or RP.
Which Should You Buy?
Buy Valorant Points if you play Valorant. Buy Riot Points if you play League of Legends. Simple as that — there's no strategic reason to hold one vs the other since they can't be converted.
